Holidays
I am super excited this morning. At the unholy hour of five o’clock tomorrow morning, I am off on holiday with my lovely daughter and a friend and her daughter to Ibiza! It’s been a tortuous journey to get to this point – we were originally going to Abu Dhabi, but as they seemed to be permanently on the Red List, so we switched destinations a few weeks ago, and then of course Abu Dhabi moved the UK to amber about ten days later!
My plan for the week ahead: just to rest and have a good time. Enjoy our daughters’ company, and maybe do a bit of exploring of the island. Our kindles are all loaded up, and I’m going to read fiction only, and I don’t want to jinx anything, but at the moment the temperature looks set at between 24 and 27 for the week – I can live with that. My daughter keeps mentioning beach clubs and night clubs…not so sure about that!!
Inevitably there is a veritable mountain to climb before we get away. A coaching client this morning, two sets of coaching notes to write up and send off, my accounts to finalise prior to the filing deadline which falls during our holiday, Corporation Tax to sort and pay, invoices to send out, emails from this week’s workshops to do and all the last-minute panic washing before finalising our packing. And that’s all before making sure we have the extra paperwork you need these days: vaccination certificates, QR codes, passenger locator forms, tests and more tests. It’s always this way – the last day before you go away is so manic, you wonder if it’s worth the stress. But it always, always is.
It’s so important to take regular breaks and not feel guilty when doing so. Our brains were never equipped to deal with the speed and information overload of modern life. Right now my brain certainly requires a reboot and refresh – and that’s what I’m hoping this holiday will deliver.
As Sam Glenn says -
“Sometimes the best solution is to rest, relax and recharge.
It’s hard to be your best on empty.”
Salud!!
